two sketches of DDP and the surroundings

DDP and the surroundings viewed from 13th floor of DOOTA, pen and watercolor

the panoramic view of DDP, pencil

I have been skeching the DDP(Dongdaemun Design Plaza) building for years. DDP is located at Eulji-ro, Jung-gu, which is huge and unique landmark in Dongdaemun History & Culture Park. Yesterday, usk Seoul members had sketch meeting along the Cheonggyecheon Stream that runs to Dongdaemun Gate. The weather was so hot and humid, I sketched DDP building and surroundings looking down at the top of the 13th floor inside of DOOTA building across the road. So I could see more elements at the same scene that I sketched before. I worked one piece in watercolors and another in 4B pencil having a different feeling. Thanks to all the participants in the hot weather.

jean shop sketch

I was waiting for my family at the shopping mall of Doota building. At the food court I could see a jean shop. A shabby jean with holes caught my eye. A young guy came, tried to choose and left. After finishing this sketch I went out to know the name of the shop. It was GUESS. Price was 117,600 won by 30 % bargain sale(fixed price - 168,000 won). There would be some definite reasons when people love to wear these clothes.

Though the weather was not warm, our outings were great. At Seoul station Rian, Susan's friend, joined us too. In spite of her busy working weekdays she was so eager to sketch Seoul, which inspired us so much. She enjoyed Korean food too. We had Korean traditional pancakes even at Gwangjang market, so crowded one. Much thanks for all her generous understanding about Korean culture and people. Hope her to come again soon and to be able to sketch all together!

Thank you so much, Susan, for your pretty presents and drawing too!
