The first Seoul Urban Sketchers meeting was at Seoul Station in 2018.
We got together and said hello and started drawing apart.
I went down to the platform and drew.
But it was too cold to stay long, so I came in after pen drawing
After lunch, we moved to the cityhall to draw recently opened ice rink in Seoul Plaza.
we went to the Jeondong Obervatory and started sketching again.

Yesterday, we usk Seoul members met at the Seoul Station for the first sketch meeting this year. It was a bit cold to sketch outdoors from morning, we sketched around Food Court on the 3rd floor inside the Seoul Station. After lunch, I moved to the Seoul City Hall and the Jeongdong Observatory nearby. I sketched the fantastic scene of the ice rink in front of the city hall and the panoramic scene looking through the window on the 13th floor of the Jeongdong Observatory. It was a good sketch time in familiar places despite the cold weather.

It was still cold though sunny. Seoul station has been one of our favorite sketching places for its importance as the main railroad station to most of people in nation. It was always crowded with passengers. The new building built on 2003 has many convenient facilities such as big food court, convenience shops and connected to the big outlet. And passengers to go abroad can use Airport Railroad there. Above all passengers can have food seeing the urban scenery through big pane glasses. Of course we, sketchers, have chances to capture those scenes too. I visited there so many times for sketching but I still have lots of objects to draw by moving people and kinds of demonstrations held around the station. 

After lunch time we moved to Seoul city Hall together. I tried to draw skaters who were enjoying cold weather running on ice. It was very funny enough to see them. White ice and dark buildings surrounding the rink looked strong by contrast. 

For the cold weather it was not easy to keep sketching more I moved to the Jeongdong Observatory located nearby the Seoul City Hall. It's loved by citizens for its nice view from 13th floor, where we can see the Deoksugung and surrounding scenery including beautiful Anglican Church of Korea. Having tea in the cafe we had good time sketching together in winter day. Thank you all!

Sketches at the Starfield Library in Starfield COEX Mall

One of famous departments in Korea, Shinsegae group became to own the COEX Mall since Dec. 2016. The name was changed into Starfield COEX Mall in which people could meet a nice space, Starfield library from May 31, 2017. Months later I visited there and sketched some. Because I didn't go there often I could not imagine how the space looked like before. But the present feature was great. The big library was free to go and have seats for reading or talking or taking pictures. People seemed to enjoy the freedom beyond the absolute calmness in common libraries. I didn't read a book just sketched three pieces. I felt like to go there often for capturing more and for reading if possible.

어제 스타필드 코엑스 몰에 다녀왔어요. 별마당 도서관이 열린지 몇개월이 지났더군요. 코엑스 몰이 워낙 어마어마하게 커서 좀체 갈 일이 없었으나 열린 공간인 도서관이 너무 좋더군요. 여기 저기 앉을 데가 많아서 서울어반스케쳐스 모임도 한번 해볼만하겠습니다. 이번에는 책을 못보았는데 다음에는 일찍 가서 그림도 그리고 책도 빼보고 해야겠구요. 서울에 멋진 공간이 생겨서 기분이 좋았습니다.

안녕하세요!

날씨가 매우 춥습니다. 올해의 마지막 스케치 모임을 마치고 내년 모임 일정을 올립니다.

1.  2018년 1월 6일(토), 서울역사와 주변, 오전 10:30 - 오후 4:30, 3층 푸드코트앞에서 만남

2.  2018년 1월 10일(수), 용산 국립 중앙 박물관, 오전 10:30 - 오후 4:30, 1층 로비에서 만남

3.  2018년 1월 20일(토), 종로 타워 안과 밖, 오전 10:30-오후 4:30, 종로 타워 1층에서 만남

4.  2018년 1월 27일(토), 한남대교 새말 까페(레인보우), 오전 10:30 - 오후 3:30

연말 연시에 행복한 시간 보내시기 기원하오며, 스케치 모임에 많은 참여 기다립니다.

(내년 1월 27일이 제 58차 월드와이드 스케치크롤 행사일이라 1월 24일(수)에 하기로 한 모임을 취소하고 1월 27일(토)에 하는 것으로 정정하였습니다. 스케줄에 변동을 드리게 된 점 양해와 참여 부탁드립니다.)

꽝 ...  집에서 가까운, 가끔 장보러 가기도 하는 고양 Starfield에서 모임이 있다고...우르릉  꽝!
장보러 갔을 때와  많이 다른 모습이네요.

눈 내리던 날..

혹시 취소되지 않을까 걱정하면서 번개모임으로 나갔습니다.

조금 헤매긴했지만... 무사히 도착해서 일행들 만나 드로잉을 시작했습니다.

복잡한 쇼핑몰 구조물이 생각만큼 쉽질 않네요...

보이는게 많으니 그릴것도 많았는데 무얼 그려야 할지..

내년에도 열심히 그려봐야겠지요....

 

Starfield Goyang

전날 지방에 다녀 오느라 피곤해서 스케치는 많이 못했지만 이런날에는 스케치 재미가 두 배 인것 같다.눈 내리는 풍경을 보는 재미,좋은 사람들과 커피를 마시는 재미 등등..즐거운 번개 스케치 시간이었다

                   눈이 펑펑 내리는 아침...
                   이런날 약속이 있고 좋은 사람들과 좋아하는 일을 한다는
                   행복감으로 집을 나섰다.( 조금 안좋은 도로사정은 조심운
                   전으로 대체하고..)
                   처음 가본 스타필드 고양은 여느 복합쇼핑몰과 비슷했지만
                   우리의 탁월한 선택지는 꼭대기 4층의 전면이 통창인 바움
                   카페.  시원스런 풍광에 팝콘이 터지듯 펑펑 내리는 눈송이는
                   아파트나 빌딩사이로 내리는 눈과는 차원이 다른듯 .마음을
                   들뜨게도 차분하게도 해주었다. 한동안 이런저런 이야기꽃을
                   피우다 아이가 스르르 잠이 들듯 그림삼매경에 빠졌다
                   점심후 여기저기 구경을 하며 층층이 휘어진 곡선의 아
                   름다움에 감탄과 감상만 하고..(필력부족 휴..)
                   끝나기전 카페에 모여 급하게 장 수를 채웠다
                   유선생님의 강추로 수제비와 코다리찜으로 저녁까지 맛나게
                   얻어먹고 ...아쉬운 하루를 접었다

It was snowy in the morning. The Starfield Goyang locates at Goyang city, notherly from Seoul, the 2nd mall after the one in Hanam city. For the cold weather we, Seoul Urban Sketchers, had a meeting inside the very big mall. The scale is so big that we should walk for long to find friends here and there moving up and down stairs by escalators. But it provided lots of subjects to draw. While sketching chatting was additional joy for all of us having tea in nice cafes. Finishing the sketch walk we promised to meet again next year. Hope all to enjoy Merry X-Mas and Happy New Year!

아침에 눈발이 흩날렸지만 실내에서 그릴 예정이라 크게 걱정하지 않고 고양 스타필드에 도착했습니다. 역시나 여전히 광활한 공간이라 뭐를 그려야 할지 두려움은 두번째 방문에도 사라지지 않더군요. 10시 30분경 참가하신 한정선, 정영경, 최정은, 김미옥님을 만나뵙고 4시 반에 다시 만나기로 하고 흩어졌습니다. 너무 넓어서 군중속의 고독이라고나 할까요. 그리는 내내 외로웠다가 3시 무렵 까페에서 모여 한장 더하고 마쳤습니다. 

올해 내내 참여하신 분들께 감사의 말씀을 올리며 즐거운 성탄절과 새해를 맞이하시기를 바랍니다. 추운 날씨에 건강히 지내시기 바랍니다.
