Sketches at the pro/con rally about abortion rights

A week ago I could pass the rally of pro/con for the abortion rights in front of the Constitutional Court located at Jae-dong, Jongno-gu. Lots of groups gathered for their opinions to affect the vote of judges about the constitutionality. The result was "unconstitutional". I could hear the shouts and sighs from both sides while drawing these. I felt just complicated though my pen was running on papers. I tried to put myself to others' shoes. I added colors at home later. 

지난 4월 11일에 헌법재판소를 지나게 되었어요. 근처에 볼일이 있어 들렀다가 그날이 마침 낙태에 관한 헌재의 결정이 있는 날이라 많은 찬/반 시위자들이 모여 있더군요. 촛불집회에서도 수차 스케치를 했었으나 사안에 대한 느낌은 달랐습니다. 군중을 피해 이리 저리 옮겨가며 펜으로 그리고 집에 와서 물감 칠을 했습니다. 그리는 동안 함성이 들리더니 '헌법 불합치'로 결론났다는 말을 들었습니다. 마음 속이 복잡한 것은 사실이었습니다. 시대가 변하는 현장에 있게되어 두서없는 스케치로라도 동참하였기에 몇장 올려봅니다.

강변역 테크노 마트에 가본지가 여러 해가 되어 어제 답사차 방문했습니다. 지난 번에 갔을 때는 여름 철이라 9층 한강 전망대에서 그리는 동안 등에 땀이 줄줄 흘렀었는데 겨우 봄이 시작인데도 옥상이라 그런지 햇살은 매우 따갑더군요. 점심 전에 한강을 내려다 보고 한장 그리고 10층 CGV 영화관으로 올라갔어요. 강이 내려다 보이지는 않지만 아파트와 강변로로 달리는 전철도 내려다 볼 수 있는 멋진 공간에서 두장 하고 내려왔습니다. 동서울 터미널이 부근에 있어서인지 부대에 들어가기 전에 군에 들어가기 전에 영화 한편 관람하는 듯한 군인들의 모습도 그려 보았구요. 여늬 영화관보다 북 까페도 있고 문화적인 공간으로 머무는 동안 기분 좋았습니다. 쇼핑 몰 내의 웨딩 홀 부근도 서서 그릴 생각만 되면 늘어선 화환과 하객들도 그려 봄직했습니다. 식사 공간으로는 지하 1층에 푸드코트가 있고 전망대가 있는 9층에 많은 식당이 있었습니다. 가운데가 뚫리고 예쁜 엘리베이터가 오르내리는 공간이 있어 그 역시 복잡한 것에 도전해 볼 용기가 있다면 좋은 소재가 될 듯합니다. 오는 20일 그림 감상을 한강 전망대에서 할 계획이었으나 바람이 거세다면 10층의 북 까페 옆 전망 공간이 좋을 듯해서 그날 일기 보아 이동하기로 하겠습니다.

Yesterday I visited the Techno Mart, Gangbyeon branch before our regular meetup on Apr. 20, 2019. The Han River was flowing as usual. Most people would like to look down the rivescape which gives good subjects to draw for sketchers. Two different style bridges on both sides will present nice views. After drawing one t the Haneul Park on 9th floor I went up to CGV, 10F to capture the atmosphere of the space for the movies. The floor was the best as for me to have been to cinemas recently because at the corner it had big scale windows - a little oval shaped - where I could see apartments, traffic roads, subway railroad around the building. I expect more scenes would be captured from different spots on coming Saturday. Hope Soul Urban Sketchers to enjoy great scenery too! See you then and there!

Yesterday(Apr. 7, 2019) YH Lee and I went to the "J Billiards Club" in the building of "Billiard Academy in Seoul" located at Jamwon-dong, Seoul. There was a big game of the 14th 3-Cushion championship for the Seoul City Mayor's Flag supported by Seoul Billiards Federation and Seoul City. We could see famous star players such as Cho Jae-Ho and Cho Myung-Woo and other female players we've seen on TV. Several times' visits to the billiards clubs gave different impression according to the location of the floors, scale, and the decoration. Chairs for the general visitors are our interesting point for sketching. Some are good and the others are not. Yesterday it was the best as far as we've experienced. Benches were laid a little higher than the floor. And we occupied the nearest one and we could keep sketching for hours. Last week we met a staff, Park Ji-Young of Seoul Billiards Federation. She showed much interest in sketch, especially YH Lee's work and took a photo. This time we met again and greeted warmly. She asked us to draw well letting us know who was the famous player, Cho Jae-Ho. We tried and tried of course. He won the first prize at last. This time it was special that we could see the female players' game in front of the game table. They looked so nice as models for drawing too. The female game winner Kim Min-Ah liked very much looking at her sketch drawn by YH Lee. The staff said that she kept visiting to our blog. Much thanks to her! 

서울 당구 연맹 홈피에서 제 14회 서울특별시장기 당구 대회가 열린다는 공지를 보고서 어제 서초구 잠원동에 위치한 J 당구 클럽을 갔습니다. 그동안 여러 당구장을 다녀보았어요. 물론 당구 게임을 보는 것도 좋지만 각각 다른 실내 분위기에서 스케치해보는 것도 또 다른 즐거움을 주었습니다. 어제 간 J 당구 클럽은 게임 관람자를 위해 졸은 환경이더군요. 약간 높은 위치에 벤치가 있었고 바로 눈앞에서 빅 게임이 열리니 금상첨화였습니다. 지난 달 말에 열린 김경률 추모 당구대회에서 만난 서울당구연맹 직원이신 박지영샘을 다시 만나 반가왔고 스케치하느라 자리를 못떠나는 저희를 위해 특별한 배려를 해주셔서 너무 감사했습니다. 조용히 경기도 보고 스케치하는 모습은 누구라도 좋아하시는 것같아 모두 기분이 좋았어요. 특히 저희 블로그도 링크해두시고 자주 보니 그림 많이 올려주시기 바란다고 하시더군요. 당구와 스케치가 예술로 만나는 경험을 했습니다. 승리하신 조재호 선수와 김민아 선수와 선전하신 많은 선수들께 박수 보냅니다. 감사했습니다!

아름다운 성당

한번쯤 호젓한 시간을 갖고싶었던 성당에서 드라마촬영과겹쳐서 번잡한 시간을보냈다
한편의 드라마가 어찌 만들어지는지
보이지않게 수고하는사람들이 참 많았다

뜻밖에도 SBS 촬영팀과 공존하면서 어반스케치 했습니다.

여기저기 카메라 앵글에 걸린다고 비켜달라고 하는 바람에

그림이 미완성인듯 완성아닌듯 되버렸지만

재미있는 경험이였습니다...

촬영하는 장면도 그릴 수 있었으면 좋았겠지만..

날이 조금씩 따뜻해지니 어반스케치하러 나가기 좋아지고 있네요..

미세먼지만 없으면 좋으련만...

Yakhyeon Catholic Church(약현성당) is Korea's first Gothic style church located at Jungnim-dong (중림동) in downtown Seoul. The cathedral, with a history of more than 120 years and a representative shrine dedicated to martyrs, is situated at the top of a small hill surrounded by bustling streets and high-rise buildings.
This week, last Monday, we Seoul urban sketchers gathered to sketch in this church. The weather was a bit cold and dust, but suitable for sketching outdoors. I've sketched this place many times before, but the more I draw, the fresher I feel in the same place. The cathedral which contains historical meaning and architectural style, provides endless sketching materials in harmony with its surroundings. I enjoyed sketching various scenes that I didn't draw before from place to place around the beautiful cathedral.

서울 도심의 빌딩숲 사이로 빛나는 언덕위의 아담한 안식처
최초의 고딕 양식.. 붉은벽돌과 인상적인 첨탑의 단아한 모습
순교정신과 세월의 흔적이 담겨있는 낯익은 장소와 건축이지만
그릴 때마다 새롭게 주변환경과 조화를 이루어가는 스케치의 명소입니다.

Sketchs at Yakhyeon Cathedral

            I  couldn't attend the regular meeting of S.U.S due to my works

            So.I went to the 약현 Cathedral to sketch  last Friday previously

               The Cathedral was historic and smaller than any other'

               and clean, calm and beautiful.It located in a city centre,

                but i felt i was in another world 

                First of all, the weather was so nice even though a

                slightly wind, it's been a long time 

                There are nothing to interpret my painting 

                I felt i was in my workroom 

                Anyway I was lucky!!

                   정기모임날 일이 생겨서 지난 금욜 약현성당에 미리 다녀왔다

                   서울중심이라고 믿기지 않을정도로 정숙,정갈한게 마치

                   다른 세상에 온 기분이었다 .조선시대부터 있었던 유서깊은,

                   약간 아담한성당의 본당도 무척 아름다웠다 

                   오랜만의 청명한 날씨, 이 아름다운 공간에 혼자 차지하고

                   있는듯한.. 어쨌든 운이 좋은 날이었다~~
