two sketches along the street at Susong-dong

Sambong-gil is an old-aged street lined with shops, located on the opposite side of Jongno-gu office. Occasionally I pass by the street, the scenery of low-rise buildings attracts my attention. These works are sketched within a short moment on my way home.

the buildings are simple in style, but something attractive.

new peace market

46x37cm, watercolor

drawings of people in street, Seoul

She was walking out from a beauty shop to meet somebody while having her hair permed. I sketched her instantly with pen when I was waiting for the shuttle bus to swimming center. pen, 15 x 20 cm
In the bus coming home I drew a middle aged man with an umbrella. pencil, 15 x 20 cm
I took a photo using my mobile phone at the bus. It looks fuzzy. The model sat behind the young man at corridor who stood at the moment I finished this drawing fortunately. After taking this photo I had to get off at my bus stop hurriedly holding my umbrella, sack, and this sketchbook on both hands.

The Dongdaemun Design Plaza & Park (DDP) is a large urban development project under construction in Dongdaemun, Seoul. It will contain of a multi-use park, a fashion plaza, an underground mall, and a restoration of a number of items of national heritage. Perhaps it will be completed next year.
I used to sketch this attractive subject several times recently. Owing to the hot weather, I sketched this magnificent structure looking over the window, within air-conditioned buildings on the opposite side.

sketches / pencil & gel pen

readers at Kyobo Book Center, 13 x 18 cm sketchbook
Sketching tools were simple such as pen and pencil. Walking down to Gwangwhamun I saw the GC Mart with green awning and green watermelons on cart. Drawing with pen I could feel like that I was making a print work - etching. Large book center provided a good shelter for people to read books in cool space.
