sketch in Sejong University at the time of Spring festival

sepia conte, watercolor, A 4

Campus was full with tents under which tables and plastic stools were laid. In some tents students were selling snacks and accessaries. After classes the festival might be open in full-fledged.scale. I sketched the above one in an empty tent in cool condition though the outside was very hot. The far building with big flag is students' hall built newly. Being young is always envied by all old people. I prayed for their happy future.

Dongguk University has a history of over 100 years, and is one of the best universities that was founded on the Buddhist faith. The main campus is located in jung-gu Seoul, and directly connected with Namsan Mountain and Jangchungdan Park. So we can see much beautiful scenery surrounded by urban buildings and natural landscapes. Ahead of the Buddha's Birthday, lots of colorful Lotus lanterns were beautifully displayed all over the campus.
While sketching around charming campus,I was fascinated by the lively sceneries harmonized with natural park in the center of the metropolis.

Daehangno(University Street), known as the street for young people, is the former location of Seoul National University. Moving of Seoul National University led the opening of the Art Gallery and Art Theater of the Literary Hall and development of cultural space in the same area.
In 2004, Seoul Metropolitan Government designated Daehangno its second“culture street,”after Insa-dong. More interestingly, Daehangno is home to several examples of colonial architecture, including the old Daehan Hospital(1907) and the old National Industry Institute(1908), and so on. Those are well preserved beautifully as the cultural asset.
I sketched some well-known buildings around Daehangno looking back my old times, and was impressed by the harmony between the old and new architectures.

YH Lee, KW Jung and I had a sketching tour at Kookmin University located at Jeongneung-dong, Seoul. It was so hot and humid. But the campus buildings with green leaves of big trees and the Bughansan Mountain was very beautiful. In the large playing field young boys and kids were playing balls.  After we finished some sketches and had lunch we moved to the Myoungwon Folk House.  The atmosphere with Korean traditional style buildings made us feel like visiting again later.
