Jung-dong church

Around a train station

sketches near my village on March 28, 2011

This is a very long pedestrian bridge over Sinyeong three-way intersection in front of Segumjung Elementary school(right side of this paper), Seoul. For the kids the bridge has many downsteps, I think. In real the road was broader than this. Next time I'll draw better than now.

I hung my watercolor kit on the tree after sketching for washing.

I could finish barely without turning the painting gear over to the street. I walked again today but came back in the middle due to the raindrops. I did't keep an umbrella. (27.5 x 17 cm, pen and watercolor)

sketchcrawl on shops

in front of cute coffee shop "Gumeong Gage(small shop)' located at Sinyeong-dong, Seoul

in front of Shilla Myungua located at Buam-dong, Seoul

at Zzangmyun(chinese noodle) restaurant located at Hyoja-dong, Seoul
where I had Zazangmyun

in front of coffee shop 'Bonsol Coffee' located near Naeja Crossroad, Seoul

I walked from my house to Gwanghwamun Square. It took over three hours walking and sketching. While walking I had good time sketching these shops. Some owners asked me to come in and to have coffee being pleased with the drawings. I let them know the websites on which their shop drawings would be posted. Just walking gave the chances to meet nice people while sketching! Thank you for the kindness you've shown on the strange sketcher! (27.5 x 17 cm, pen and watercolor)

at A/S center

I went to A/S center of Philips located near Gunja station for repairing hair trimmer which I had bought on 1998. While waiting for it to be mended I sketched the goods on shelves such as irons, hair drier, hair curling iron... I could watch some drama on TV set. I felt happy to be able to use it again. The engineer said that I could use it for 4-5 years more by changing the batteries this time. (12.5 x 19.5 cm, pen, pencil, felt tip pen)

The Seoul Children's Grand Park is most suitable place to sketch various subjects, such as animals and people or diverse buildings surrounded by greens. Last Saturday was comparatively clear weather, so we had a pleasant sketch time with enthusiastic work all day long. We are looking forward to join with new comers. Glad to see you!

East Grand gate from car

I had to go to the Samyook Hospital located at Chungryang-ri due to the stomachache of my son. The hospital offers medical services on sunday by the principle of their religion 'The Seventh Day Adventist church'. Even though it's sunday the traffic was terrible. The roads were restricted for the marathon runners. We're caught in car over 20 minutes. I had to sketch the scenery. Luckily I could draw the East Grand Gate on the road. This is my humble start.
Thank you for letting me join the group. -Hyejin Kim

Children's grand park doodles

Thank you so much for the members of Urban Sketchers to let me join the group today.

The zoo was full of excitement bursting out of children, their hyper parents, and happy young couples. The diverse group of visiting homo sapiens complete the list of zoo animals.

Please excuse my pencil marks, I tried to upload the original doodle from the location rather than redraw, to abide the Sketchers rule as a nice new comer!
