Sketches from Kunming Medical College

piles of surveys from urban streets of central Kunming. Young ladies of KMC never forget to bring their sun umbrellas with them. Kunming's altitude is high and the UV exposure is strong. good sunscreen and/or umbrellas won't do any harm!

Myeongnyundang is one of the main component building of Seoul Munmyo, a Confucian shrine complex which is more than 600 years and adjacent to Sungkyunkwan University up to the present.
Last Saturday, the weather was so good for our sketchers to be absorbed in drawing all day. I drew and painted various subjects this and that, enjoying colorful sceneries to the full around the intimate cultural properties.

10 participants came to the Myungryundang for sketching. The weather was fine. The Sungkyunkwan University and the Myungryundang are neighbouring. Sketchers liked the latter for its attractive features for sketching rather than the modern buildings in university campus. On the foreground of the Myungryundang, the Confucius shrine, was there going a wedding ceremony. We could see the traditional wedding ceremony sketching and hearing Korean classical music. Eo Jini, the new comer, came to join as she promised on Aug. 15 when she met us at Seodaemun Prison History Hall, where she even sketched one piece on the spot. We thanked her for that she prepared the delicious lunch to share with us, the Gimbab(rice rolled in dried laver). We hoped she'd continue to participate in and to accomplish her dream since a kid to be an artist. Thank you all!

sketches on a hot autumn day, Sept. 2, 2011

pencil(4B), chalks, A 4 sketchbook

I had some business in Daehagro. I walked all the street of Daehagro to Chongro 4-ga sketching here and there. Even it was so hot but the streets showed some distinctive beauty with leaves of trees in streets. On the way coming home I sketched a girl and finished with chalks in the bus; it was possible!

on a hot day at Yeonheedong

There are famous restaurants at Yeonheedong. I went to have Naengmyun(Cold Noodle) at one of them. Before entering the restaurant I sketched the above one using pencil and chalks putting my sketchbook on the pocket for free newspaper, which was very useful.

I sketched her who was busy with her mobile phone at subway using pencil (7B).
She was so absorbed in her mobile that I could sketch well.
