Due to hot and strong light at noon it's very fearful to go out. I dropped in the Samsung A/S center to fix my phone. After finishing it I came down to lobby and didn't feel like going out. I looked around the lobby and decided to draw the big sculpture over the water. It was set after months' remodeling of the lobby. The explanation noted that it expressed Jongno, center of economy and culture, as spiral sculpture harmonized with water and light considered as symbols of wealth and energy topographically. And it aimed the energy of Jongno to be transferred to visitors and occupied offices. 

After finishing the first one I went down for sketching more. I found a book store scene from the corridor. The Jongno Books was relaunched last December 14 years after its closing. It was great to see the oldest bookstore(launced on 1907) come back to book readers. 

너무나 뜨거운 햇살에 휴대폰 고치는 일이 끝나고도 선뜻 길을 나설 수가 없었습니다. 시원한 실내에서 새단장한 종로 타워 로비를 그려보았구요. 작은 종이에 큰 조형물을 억지로 그려넣었구요. 아래층에 내려가서 종로 서적의 한 장면을 내려다 보고 그렸습니다.

전에 그리던 종로 타워의 빈 창가에도 사무실이 들어서서 그리기 어려운 것을 보며 그릴 수 있을 때 그려야 하는 것을 다시금 느끼고 건물을 나왔습니다. 따가운 열기 속으로...

오늘 종로에서 약속이 있었습니다. 만날 분들을 기다리면서 문뜩 바라 본 풍경이 제 눈길을 사로 잡았습니다. 스케치를 시작하고 얼마 후 일행이 모여 볼일을 보고 다시 같은 자리로 돌아와 스케치를 마무리 하였습니다.
저도 서울 어반스케쳐스 전시에 참여할 수 있을 듯 합니다.

I made an appointment today in Jongro street. Waiting for people to meet, the scenery that I gazed at was captivating my eyes. After starting the sketch, people gathered and returned to the same place and finished the sketch.
I think I can participate in the exhibition of Seoul Urban Sketchers.

덕수궁에서 어반스케치 - 20170624

지난달 24일 서울어반스케쳐스 주최로 덕수궁에서 모여 즐거운 하루를 보냈다.

이곳에서 그림 그리는것이 중학 2학년때 신문사에서 개최한 그리기대회에 참가한 이후 처음이니 몇십년 만인지 셈도 어렵고나 ㅎ

Urban sketches(24.June) in Seoul

I am posting the last sketch meeting. I have some errors to upload my pictures. 

Anyway, I can upload the pictures.

Last month, I attended sketch meeting in Seoul. From early morning, we  assembled in front of Daehan-mun, which has been the main gateway of Deoksoo palace.

The front of gateway, the traditional ceremony to shift the Guards was hold. While the ceremony, several sketchers draw the scenery.

Other members had been drawing beautiful road view.

When I arrived at the old Baejae school which had been founded at 1886, I also wanted to take the picuture. But, I didn't complete the drawing because of sudden shower.

During moving other place, I drawed pen sketch one-day road market.

Over the top of a building, I drawed the Deoksoo palace. The palace was really beautiful. It was difficult to take the wide view in my picture. Also, in short time.

After having each drawing time, we assembled and exhibit our drawing. Other member's pictures were really great. I thought they expressed the nice scene.
I had good expectations for next sketch meeting. I love urban sketch Seoul.

                                                                                                                                    I went to the Sam  chung dong with my friends to prepare for the     exhibition. Because of the forecast of rain,the streets were unexpectedly uncrowded.  Sometimes group tourists were showed up.  And the umbrella of there's made the color of sketch rich . In the morning ,

didn't rain, we sketched  under the outdoor umbrella of the unknown church, but after lunch, pouring cats and dogs, we went to second

 floor of the cafe to take shelter from the rain. The cafe was so cool and not crowded. The sound of rain falling outside, the music inside th cafe and the communion of the friends sharing the same interst, it was mixed up ,looked like sound of orchestra. Maybe it was the benefits of rainy season.We have had an intering and exhausting but fruitful day.

전시작품을 위해 친구들과 삼청동 투어에 나섰다. 비예보 때문인지 예상외로 거리는 

한산했고 형형색색의 우산을 쓴 단체관광객들이 스케치의 색감을 더 해 주었다

오전에는 비가 내리지 않아 어느교회의 파라솔아래서 삼청동 가게를 그리고 느긋한 점심식사후 2층 카페에서 쏟아지는 비를 감상(?)하였다.  오늘따라 귀에 착착 감기는 음악,창을 두드리는 시원헌 소나기, 같은곳을 지향하는 친구들과의 교감이 때로는 강한 금관악기처럼 때로는 섬세한  현악기의 리듬으로...오케스트라연주를 듣는듯한 느낌 ..

.명절특수, 휴가특수..오늘은 장마특수를 톡톡히 누린 날이다.

It rained off and on yesterday. We Seoul urban sketchers met on Sagan-dong(사간동) near Gyeongbokgung Palace and sketched around Bukchon Hanok Village(북촌 한옥마을), where lots of traditional houses and new buildings coexist side by side harmoniously and has become a major tourist attraction. Despite the bad weather, the rainy sceneries of the beautiful village seemed like an atmosphere of "Watercolors in Rain". I couldn't but sketch inside building or take shelter from the rain under the eaves while painting watercolors. It was a very exciting sketch time practicing finish the sketches within a short period of time on rainy days.

경복궁과 주변의 북촌마을은 잘 정돈된 전통한옥과 고궁, 문화시설들과 카페거리...

종로 스케치에서 빼놓을 수 없는 다양하고 무궁무진한 소재를 지닌 명소입니다. 

온종일 장마비로 인한 애로가 많았지만, "비오는 날의 수채화"를 그리면서 색다른 분위기를 느끼고 또한 악천우에 대처하며 그리는 실전 경험도 큰 소득이라 생각합니다.

I had a little trouble to take a seat ecause of the wether.
Cafe and the Gate was the answer.

비오는 삼청동

The rain in Samcheong-dong was romantic.I couldn't attend the meeting because I was late, but I had a good day.I even scratched the rain with scratches on the paper.It makes various kinds of thoughts and expressions.

It kept being fine and rainy repeatedly. Eight sketchers including one new comer(Yoon Jae Kyung) gathered at the National Palace Museum of Korea and the other three sketchers(JS Han, KW Baik, YK Jeong) kept sketching at Samcheong-dong.

Samcheong-dong seems to keep changing day by day. So it gives lots of fascinating spots for us. Sketching Jongno we may be the biggest earning party through often meetings.

비가 안 와도 후덥지근함으로 길을 걷기에도 힘든 날씨에 요소 요소에서 그림과 씨름하신 스케쳐 여러분들께 감사합니다. 이번 전시회를 핑계 삼아 종로를 많이 관찰하고 그려보는 귀중한 자기 발전의 시간이 되었으면 합니다.

종로에서의 하루

지난  수요일   두명의 친구들과   종로 스케치를 나갔다.
조계사에서  스케치하고는  유쌤이 사주시는  맛있는  절 식사를 하고
낙원 악기상가에서    라이브음악을 들으며   스케치하는  호사를  누렸다.
