Yesterday, there was Seoul urban sketchers meeting in Gochok Skydome which is Korea's first dome baseball stadium. Gochok Skydome is Nexen Heroes’ home stadium that has been used since 2016. Even though it was a bit cold with full of fine-dust in the air, it was grateful to meet Urban sketchers. In the morning, I drew inside the Holly’s Café in the basement floor of Skydome. The atmosphere of the Cafe was enthusiastic, and there were many Nexen fans with their children; they were full of smiles with excitement to watch the game. Soon after lunch, we entered the stadium, sat in the outfield seats, and started sketching, since the game between Nexen Heros and Hanwha Eagles started at 2pm, By looking at fans cheering for their teams, a memory reflected myself in a college jersey cheering for my school team back in the 1980’s. It was great to see the dynamic unified movements from diverse age groups of fans whenever their teams scored a point.

어제 서울 어반스케치 모임에 참가하였습니다. 꽃샘 추위로 제법 쌀쌀한 날씨와 미세먼지 가득한 날씨였지만 반가운 스케쳐분들과 인사하는 자리는 항상 즐거웠습니다. 오전엔 지하1층에 있는 힐리스 카페안에서 그림을 그렸습니다. 카페안에서 아이들을 동반한 수많은 넥슨팬들이 함께 모여 경기에 대해 얘기하고 있는 모습이 활기차 보였습니다. 넥센 히어로즈와 한화 이글스의 경기가 2시에 있어서, 점심식사 후 경기장에 들어가 경기를 보면서 스케치를 하였습니다. 관중들의 열띤 응원모습을 보니 동대문 야구장에서 응원했었던 대학생시절이 생각났습니다. 응원하는 팀이 점수를 획득할 때마다 열광하는 아이와 함께 환호하는 가족들의 모습이 생동력있어 보여 참 보기가 좋았습니다.

반갑게 맞이 해주신 유병화선생님과 스케치 삼매경에 빠져 드신 스케쳐님들이 참으로 싱그러운 봄꽃이었습니다. 각자의 주머니와 가방 속에서 귀한 보석들을 서슴없이 꺼내 보여 주시니 입이 벌어져 아직도 턱이 다물어 지질 않습니다. 세상에서 눈에 비치는 모든 것들을 다 그리려면 하루도 심심할 일이 없을 듯 싶습니다. ^^

오는 4월 21일에는 제 59회 월드 와이드 스케치크롤 행사가 있습니다.

장소 : 홍은동 옥천암과 주변
모이는 장소: 옥천암 종무소 앞

금일(3월 24일) 점심 식사중에 예정했던 장소는 우천시에 어려움이 있을 듯하여 위와 같이 변경하였습니다. 세검천, 홍은 고가, 주변의 산들과 어우러진 풍경과 초파일을 위한 연등 장식이 아름다울 듯합니다. 관심있는 분들의 용기있는 참여를 기다립니다.

Sketches at the Gocheok Sky Dome

This month we had a sketch meetup at Gocheok Sky Dome. Weather was a little cloudy and cold. Because today was an opening day of the baseball people gathered from the morning. It was said that the tickets would be sold from 12 o'clock. Before buying ticket I drew two in front of the dome. Last year I visited the dome several times for sketching. But nobody could be able to capture all the features around the building. Having lunch at the food court in B1 we entered after 2 o'clock. Wow most of the seats were full even in outfield! But it was warmer inside so we could enjoy the exciting game and sketching together. Hearing the shouts of cheering pen kept running on the papers. I wondered how the people could endure the winter season without baseball games. Baseball lovers will have happy times till the Korean Series ends. 

오늘 날씨가 여전히 쌀쌀하고 흐리고 해서 밖에서 스케치하기에는 좀 추웠습니다. 12시 지나서 비록 외야지만 표를 구입할 수 있어서 좋았어요. 점심 전에 밖에서 두장 그리고 2시 지나 들어갔는데 벌써 외야도 거의 찼더군요. 간신히 자리 잡고 몇장 그렸습니다. 긴 겨울을 어찌 기다렸을까 싶으리만치 야구 팬들의 함성이 굉장했어요. 덩달아 기운이 난다고나 할까요. 

오늘 새로 오신 변석현 선생님 반가왔습니다. 자주 참여해 주시기 바랍니다.
