금일(8월 4일) 오후에 큐레이터 선생님으로 부터 전시회 명칭이 다음과 같이 확정되었음을 통지 받았습니다.

탑골 미술관 서울어반스케쳐스 초대전 "즐거운 나의 종로"

최종 안내물에서의 디자인은 지금은 확정되지 않았으나 문자는 위의 내용이 될 것입니다.

제 6회 전시회라는 내용은 서울어반스케쳐스의 간략한 소개글에 들어 갈 예정입니다.

I dropped in Burger King located at Susong-dong for having beverage. This time I was caught by the colorful contrast between the red color lamps and the blue dust layer of the building which was under construction at Gongpyeong redeveloping area. Compared to the roasting hot weather it was a paradise inside. I framed one piece for the coming exhibition, which was drawn in this branch with different direction. We can see that the inside structure of the shops keeps changing from time to time. So I learnt that I needed to draw on that time I was there because the scenery which I could see might disappear later, maybe never for the owner could hide the walls for the economical interest. Hope you to capture on the spot at the very time you see!

오늘도 굽는 날씨더군요. 점심 후 들른 버거킹 2층에서 평소에 그리던 수송동 풍경이 아닌 공평동, 인사동쪽을 바라 보았어요. 매장 내의 붉은 등과 멀리 보이는 공평동 재개발 지역에서 건설중인 빌딩의 푸른 방진막이 눈길을 끌었습니다. 급히 한장 했어요. 도시는 늘 변화하기에 보일 때에 그려야 하는 것을 경험으로 알게 되었습니다. 그것은 안과 밖이 따로 없더군요. 지난 번에 들른 두타 빌딩은 전에 보이던 13층 고객상담실에서 보이는 창을 제외하고는 디디피를 볼 수 있었던 여러 층의 커다란 창이 매장으로 가려졌더군요. 방문객은 그 내려다 보이는 풍광이 매력적이어서 밥 먹으러 가기도 했는데 기업은 이윤 창출이 우선이었던듯 싶습니다.

In the hot Gwanghwamun

Gwanghwamun seems to be boiling. The service plaza at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts was cool, but Gwanghwamun Square was hot. I sat in the shade believing in the wind and started sketching, but I was sitting in the sun when I realized. But The laughter of the children made me feel better. Sometimes I think it would be nice to enjoy the season without filtering.
(광화문은 끓고 있는거 같다 세종문화회관에 있는 서비스플라자는 시원했지만 광화문 광장은 뜨거웠다 바람을 믿고 그늘막에 앉아 스케치를 시작했지만 정신 차리고 보니 햇빛속에 앉아 있었다. 그러나 아이들의 웃음소리에 기분은 좋아졌다 가끔은 계절을 여과없이 느껴보는것도 좋은거 같다)

Today I dropped in McDonalds Anguk branch for having tea after lunch. The place was busy with young students and office workers around it. I liked to draw the wooden stools with blue colored long legs in that branch. But this time I tried to capture the window side scenes. After finishing the first one I moved to the window to look across the street. There were some demonstrators in front of the police. I had two apple pies while drawing two. It was very delicious!

오늘 맥도날드 안국점에 들러 스케치를 했습니다. 그 지점에 있는 푸른색 나무 의자가 멋있어서 종종 그립니다. 오늘은 종로 경찰서가 보이는 창쪽을 잡아 보았구요. 이 더운 날에 시위대는 얼마나 힘들까 생각하며 그렸습니다. 조계사 건너편 길에서 젊은 시위대가 "***석방이 웬말이냐 양심수 석방하라"하며 지나가는 것을 본지라 그분들이 아닌가 짐작했습니다. 

정권이 바뀌어도 요구 사항은 상존하는 것이 민주 사회라는 생각도 했습니다.

전시 홍보물에 관한 안내

안녕하세요!
큐레이터 선생님으로 부터 연락을 받고 전달합니다.
전시 출품자 14분으로 부터 메일을 받았으며, 홍보물에 적합한 이미지를 사용할 예정이라는 내용과 몇몇 작품은 해상도가 떨어져서 다시 연락을 취하겠다고 하셨어요. 그리고 사실상 동대문(흥인지문, 종로 5,6가동 종로 288)은 종로에 속해있으나 동대문 주변 DDP등은 종로가 아니어서 홍보물에는 사용하기 어렵다고 하십니다.
모든 작품이 홍보물에 게재되지 않더라도 최소한 출품작가 명단은 실어 줄 것을 요청하였습니다. 이번 전시가 대관이 아니고 미술관의 제안에 따르는 것이라서 많은 부분 미술관의 진행에 부응해야하는 점이 있음을 이해해주시기 바랍니다. 좋은 결과있기를 기대합니다. 수고 많으셨습니다.

Last Saturday, for the 56th World Wide SketchCrawl, we usk Seoul members met at

Common Ground (커먼 그라운드) located at Jayang-dong(자양동), Gwangjin-gu(광

진구), Seoul. Common Ground is the largest container shopping mall complex in Korea built with 200 shipping containers, and is capable of transforming into different structures or moving into different places. The architectural form is based on a center

square connecting two buildings. On the central square, a weekend market is held with 

different themes, and visitors can enjoy the light snack at the colorful food trucks that offer an exotic dining experience.

It was a little hot and humid, but a fine day for sketching, I took a fancy to the exotic food truck on the market ground at first sight. After sketching that in watercolors quickly and I drew the impressive container building connected with over bridge and hanging placards in pencil. Then I went upstairs and sketched a scenery of the connections between different buildings in perspective. While sketching, I enjoyed expressing the movements of people coming and going immediately in my picture. We had a very pleasant and lively SketchCrawl!

단순미로 살린 건축의 명소가 알뜰한 스케치의 명소로 다시 태어났습니다~~

I wanted to draw more about Jongno area for exhibition so on Sunday, I decided drop by Ikseondong as hot place for youth nowadays. Outterior looks very old, small and traditional Hanok building but inside has totally different atmosphere. Yes, it was really trendy. My first plan was just sit in street and draw it, but realized it should make pedestians uncomfortable. So changed mind to do indoor sketch. I chose very traditional style cafe; Graang because I wanted to draw Korean beauty. Cafe Graang was founded by two folk painters. You can find some folk paintings inside cafe. Stayed for 3 hours and felt I am a travler.

 

전시회 때문이기도 하고 보면 볼수록 매력적인 종로의 풍경을 더 담아 내고 싶어서 자꾸만 쉬고 싶어지는 마음을 추스러서 일요일에 다시 한번 종로로 향했습니다. 요즈음 젊은이(?)들 사이에서 한창 뜨고 있는 핫플레이스라는 '익선동'으로 갔습니다. 사실 토요일 저녁에도 갔었지만 친구와 함께 있느라 스케치는 할 수 없었거든요. 겉으로 봐서는 아주 오래되고, 작고 전형적인 시골 한옥 모습이지만 안쪽은 아주 다른 분위기를 지녔습니다. 말 그대로 트렌디합니다. 그런 상반된 매력이 사람들을 이끄는 듯 합니다. 제 원래 계획은 그냥 골목 귀퉁이에 앉아 골목 풍경을 그리는 거였는데 워낙 거리가 좁아 분명히 행인들에게 방해가 될 거 같더군요. 마음을 바꿔 오늘은 인도어 스케치를 하기로 했습니다. 두 민화가가 연 카페 '그랑' 한 구석에 어렵사리 한 자리를 차지해서 3시간 정도 그림을 그렸습니다. 일본 사람도 왔다 가고 서양 사람도 왔다 가고 'Beautiful'을 연발하는 모습에 괜시리 뿌듯했어요. 한국인데도 왠지 여행 온 기분으로 스케치를 즐겼습니다. 이로써 전시회에 낼 작품 하나를 추가할 수 있게 되었네요. 야호.

Enjoyed sketching in the subway going Seoul Skech meet-up. Drawing peoples is always a kind of challenge for me so it means I need to practice more. In last sketch meet-up around Cheonggyecheon, I completed my drawing below the Sun directly without any roof e.g. trees, bridge.. and I suffered from sunshine allergy for 1 week. But here in Common Ground, there was so nice tent and tables..! Very comfortable environment for urban sketchers :) Also I enjoyed vivid blue colored containers and exotic food trucks. And I was happy that many sketchers drew me because I blocked their view in front of food truck. :) After coming back, I added little color on my drawing and also I like it.

 

서울로 스케치 모임에 참가하러 가는 중, 지하철 내 풍경도 조금 그려볼까 하고 도전해봤습니다. 사람들이 내가 그림 그리는 것을 혹시 기분 나쁘게 생각할까 조금 조마조마한 기분이 들었어요. 눈치 채지 못하게 빨리 그려버려야지 하고 생각했습니다. 지난 주 청계천에서 아무 보호막이 없는 상태에서 한두 시간을 햇빛 아래 앉아 다리를 그렸더니 일주일 동안 햇빛 알러지로 고생을 했습니다. 그런데 커먼 그라운드에는 멋들어진 천막과 테이블이 있어 정말 편한 환경에서 스케치할 수 있어 좋았습니다. 물론 바닥에 앉아 그리는 것도 전혀 마다하지 않지만, 종종 이런 호사를 누리는 것도 참 좋네요. 쨍한 파란색의 컨테이너들과 푸드트럭들을 보는 재미가 있었어요. 게다가 여러 스케쳐 분들이 저를 모델 삼아 그려주셔서 즐거웠습니다. 제가 푸드 트럭 앞을 가로막고 있어서 어쩔 수 없으셨을 거지만요 :)
