miscellaneous sketches around Jogyesa Temple, Gyeonji-dong (견지동)

This year, I went sketching to Jogyesa Temple( 조계사) several times. The temple has a number of colorful subjects  for sketching. Here are some pieces not yet posted on usk blog.

Around Yujin shopping mall a big traditional market Inwang Market has been formed with various kinds of mongers around it. I feel like to sketch the merchants on streets when I pass them who live hardly and sincerely.

홍제동 인왕시장 주변은 야채, 과일 등을 파는 제법 큰 재래시장이 형성되어 있습니다. 그 주변을 지나노라면 따뜻한 햇살 아래에 그들을 마주보며 스케치 한장 하고 싶어집니다.

sketches at Okcheonam Temple, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul

Okcheonam (옥천암) is small and beautiful temple in Hongeun-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul. The temple is located at the foot of the hill of Samgaksan Mountain, and beneath the precinct Hongjecheon stream flows throughout the year. Okcheonam dates back to the 14th century during the Goryeo dynasty, and is also famous for a carved Buddha. The granite carving is concave and painted in a lovely seashell white, and so called " The White Buddah(하얀 부처)". The temple buildings are built on narrow and steep bedrock linearly, nevertheless the hierarchial linkage of architectures seems very interesting and beautiful features harmonized with the natural landscape. I sketched the neat and beautiful temple looking at the harmonious roof lines fascinatedly.

삼각산을 두르고 세검정 맑은 물 계류를 따라 호젓이 앉아있는 옥천암.

홍제천 다리를 건너 가까이 갈수록 첩첩지붕이 절 내음을 살며시 풍기며~

"하얀 부처"가 맞아주는 동네 사찰의 훈훈한 맛에 인정미가 흘러나온다.

some sketches at Yedamso restaurant, Gapyeong County (가평군)

Last Sunday, I participated in Korea Outdoor Watercolor Artist' group (한국 야외수채화가회) at Yedamso (예담소) restaurant. At the restaurant, the closing ceremony of the annual outdoor sketching of 2013 season was held festively. After the ceremony and lunch, I couldn't help sketching indoors with some of watercolorists due to the windy and cold weather outside. 

I was satisfied with my works in a pleasant mood inside the restaurant.

서울도서관 열람실에 들어갔는데 

계단에 책을읽는 사람들이 가득했어요. 

모두 책에 집중해서 신경도 안쓰고 정말 그리기 편한 모델들이었어요.
