We are suffering from the spreading of corona 19. I try to stay at home. And I drew two scenes around dining table. I could concentrate on drawing them during two hours each. Though I love the composition made by common stuffs unintentionally I felt somewhat sorry about that if I could have got some nice looking wares might more wonderful scene have been caught. 

Hope this terrible situation to be ended soon with the soonest recovery of all patients! 

신종 코로나 바이러스 때문에 많은 사람들이 어려움을 겪고 있습니다. 저도 되도록이면 외출을 삼가하고 집에 머무르며 그동안 못한 정리도 하고 실내 풍경을 그려보고 있습니다. 평범한 그릇들이 빚어내는 모습을 그대로 담아보려고 합니다. 좀더 멋진 그릇들이 있다면 색다른 풍경을 만들수 있을텐데 하는 아쉬움도 있습니다만 아마도 이 그림들이 나중에는 추억이 되지 않을까 생각합니다. 조용히 두시간 정도 그림에 몰두하노라면 배고픔도 참게 될 정도 입니다. 

점점 늘어나는 확진자의 수에 우려가 커지지만 조만간 끝나지 않을까 하는 기대를 갖습니다. 환자분들의 빠른 회복을 기원합니다. 건강히 지내십시요.

An old man holding his trumpet dropped in the arcade with a box decorated  which was decorated with paper flowers and "unification of south and north Korea" letters were written on. His big black hat was decorated with colorful paper flowers too. Hearing his talk with the shop owner I just guessed that he played simple piece with that trumphet waiting people to put some money into the box. 

I was lucky to hear the shop owner play the musical instrument at the entrance door.

The Nakwon Musical Instrument Arcade is full of things related with music. IIt locates at downtown near Insa-dong, Seoul. I try to drop in there if possible to see the various kinds of musical instruments and to sketch too. When in lucky time I could meet nice musicians who were trying the instruments. It's really wonderful. Recently I found a small piano looking like grand piano but electric. Beside the piano there was a stand which said "Anybody can play the piano." So people who happened to pass it liked to sit and play a piece even short. Though they couldn't remember well they seemed to enjoy with their friends.  How would it be wonderful to play some great piece for the visitors to feel happy for a while! 

요즘 낙원 악기 상가에 자주 갑니다. 우선 춥지 않고 음악과 관련된 장소라 좋습니다. 2층 중간에 보니 작은 그랜드 피아노 모양의 전자 피아노가 있었습니다. 오가는 사람들이 자유로이 쳐도 좋다는 안내문도 있어서 지나가는 학생, 연인들, 나이드신 분들도 잠시 앉아 연주해 봅니다. 악기를 즉석에서 연주 할 수 있다면 얼마나 좋을까 부러운 마음을 갖습니다. 가끔 현란한 기타 연주도 듣고 피아노 곡도 듣게 됩니다. '남북통일' 이라는 글씨를 써넣은 상자를 가지고 이곳 저곳을 방문하는 어르신의 '기상나팔'소리도 들어 보는 재미난 장소입니다.

Ttukseom Caterpillar Tunnel locates at Gwangjin-gu. For the area is near the Han River the place is loved by citizens all the year. The strange object looking like a caterpillar caught interest from lots of citizens. Inside the tunnel there are gallery, library and cafe for people. Families with kids, young and old citizens were taking rest reading books or using their notebooks. We were busy with sketching enjoying the cool scenery of Han River. The place seemed to be developing every year for the better usage of people. It was warm inside. But the weather was not so terrible that I could draw some outdoor. I would like to visit there again when it becomes warmer later. 

아무래도 겨울이라 쌀쌀하긴 했으나 햇살이 좋아 밖에서 그리는 것도 좋았습니다. 자벌레관이 전과 다르게 따뜻해진 듯하여 아주 좋았어요. 자유로이 책도 뽑아 읽고, 차도 마시고, 쉬는 광간으로 탈바꿈하여 시민에게 재충전할 수있는 공간으로 변모되어 기분 좋았구요. 참석하신 많은 분들이 매우 열정적으로 그림에 몰두하시는 모습도 아름다왔습니다. 추운 역사에서 한장 그리고 올라갔는데 찰리 선생님께서 건네주신 핫백이 너무 따뜻했습니다. 하루 종일 추운 줄 모르고 그렸어요. 마칠 무렵 서정화 선생님의 '쁘라질' 커피와 곳감도 감사드려요. 

아직 추운 겨울인데 많은 분들 만나 뵈어 반가왔습니다. 스케치를 1번 순위에 두시고 늘 함께 하시기를 바랍니다. 멋진 장소 택하시고 많은 참여자분들 챙기시느라 수고 하신 찰리 선생님께 다시 감사드립니다!

위의 두장은 단양 구인사에서 그렸습니다. 생전에 어머니가 이 큰딸 시집 언제 가겠는가하여 기도도 많이 가시고 삼천배 올리고 큰 스님께로부터 '내년!' 이라는 한 말씀 듣고 오셨다는 곳인지라 궁금하기도 하였고 천태종 본산인 구인사행 버스도 있어 한번 가보았습니다. 스님 말씀대로 '내년'에 치우셨다는....

절 건물들 중 맨 위에 자리 잡은 대목수가 지으신 순 목재 건물은 볼만했습니다. 그 안에 모신 금칠한 조사님은 그리지 못하게 하더군요. 사무실에 가서 허락을 구하려했으나 'No!' 였구요. 외관은 그릴 수 있었으나 바깥 마당에서 바라만 보고 내려왔습니다.

함양에서 열린 한국수채화협회 주관의 워크샵에 참여하여 함께 스케치할 기회가 았었습니다. 용추폭포는 시간이 없어 못가보았지만 하류의 계곡의 크기로 보아 그 위용이 짐작되었고 언제고 한번 가 보고 싶은 마음을 갖게 되었어요. 위 그림은 농월정이 있는 계곡에서 잡았습니다.

함양이 인삼생산지로도 유명하더군요. 위 그림은 산삼유통단지 건물의 정면을 콘테로 그린 것입니다.

연말이 가까와지면 서울 시내의 각 노인 복지관의 댄스 프로그람 수강자들의 생활체육 경연대회가 KBS 아레나 홀에서 열립니다. 지난 해에 이어 두번째로 응원겸 스케치겸 참석했습니다. 노인인가 싶으리만치 모습이 활기차고 아름다와 놀랍니다. 그 모습에 반해 저도 올해는 한 강좌 들어야지 하고 그냥 넘기고 말았지만 응원하는 마음은 더해집니다.

작년에는 아래층에서 관람해서 무대를 그릴만 했는데 올해는 위층 왼쪽이어서 좀 멀었구요. 자리에서 보이는 입구의 모습과 아래 그림의 음향 엔지니어의 모습, 그리고 우리 팀의 출연자들이 함께 다른 팀 응원하는 모습을 담았습니다.

It was far different and more difficult than as in baseball or in billiards for the speed of the players. I felt that I should put lots of time and efforts to capture even one well. 

노인 복지 차원에서 프로 농구 입장권을 선물하며 노인들의 경기 관람 기회를 줍니다. 관람 여부 문자가 와서 기꺼이 참여해서 스케치 몇장했습니다. 그러나 그래도 잠시라도 고정 포즈를 갖는 야구나 당구와 달리 농구는 완전 달라서 거의 흉내도 내지 못했구요. 수없이 연습을 해야겠구나 하는 다짐만 하고 돌아왔습니다. 겨울에는 농구, 배구, 아이스 하키등등 실내 경기를 많이 찾아봐야겠습니다.

요즈음에는 전철을 타도 전과같이 종이 꺼내기가 좀 망설여집니다. 방송으로 '남의 신체부위를 찍지 말라...'는 멘트가 자주 나오기 때문에 비록 사진은 아니라도 '초상권' 침해의 소지도 없지 않고 하여 주로 신발이나, 가방, 손모습등을 그립니다. 악화가 양화를 구축한다고 치한들로 인해 예술을 선반에 얹어야하는 현실이 아쉽습니다.

어린 야구 선수를 그려보았구요. 위의 멋쟁이 노인과 같은 날 그렸어요. 특색있는 인물 만나는 것도 행운이라 어찌되었든 그리기 시작합니다. 그리는 도중에 건너와서 '왜 남의 얼굴을 그리느냐'고 강하게 항의하시는 분도 있어 접기도 합니다...

벌써 한해가 저무는군요. 하루가 쏜살같이 지나갑니다. 많이 그려야지 하는 마음만 있지 종이와 연필은 선반에 있기가 쉽습니다. 내년에는 열심을 내어보려고 그동안 못올렸던 그림 몇장 올립니다. 

추운 겨울 건강히 지내시고 새해에 좋은 일만 가득한 한해가 되기를 빕니다. 올 한해 참석해 주신 모든 분들께 감사드리며 내년에도 반갑게 만나뵈었으면 합니다. 특히 잔뜩 마음만 내시고 동참하시지 못한 분들의 용기있는 도전을 기다리겠습니다.

The area was famous for lots of iron works since 1960s. But economical crisis on 1997 there became vacant sites to be increased, where the artists who needed enough space for cheap rent instead of high one in downtown gathered and started to do their jobs. Iron, steel and art could keep coexistence since then. Years ago at my first visit I could see some sites were transformed into galleries. This time I couldn't find unfortunately but small and large scale restaurants or cafes. I think it might be for that I couldn't wander everywhere or for the rainy weekend. Just mural painting in some alleys looked good compared to the dark iron works sites.

The area seemed to be surrounded by high risen buildings day by day. I could meet some photographers or visitors walking around the attraction.

This kind of scene reminded me of iron works at Incheon which was one of my favorite sketching places. I like those features with spread-out wings or awnings and supporters in such working sites. It it was not weekend day I could see more workers.

The church began activity since 1966 for urban laborers. After a short talk with the kind priest in the ground I walked up to 2nd floor chapel hall. There was nobody in dark. I just tried to draw in serious darkness. Only small red light in the altar was shining. sepia conte, pastels, A 4

많은 분들께서 참여하신 풍성하고 즐거운 스케치 모임이었어요. 

긴 테이블위를 꽉 채운 작품들은 장관이었습니다. 

어려운 날씨에 수고 많으셨고 자주 뵙기 바랍니다. ~

어제 다소 쌀쌀한 날씨였지만 문래 창작촌을 둘러보며 스케치 할 수 있어서 매우 좋았습니다. 기대했던 스튜디오나 갤러리는 휴일이어서 그런지 방문하지 못했으나 종래의 커다란 철 공장들의 모습이 멋졌어요. 자주 가던 인천 만석동, 연안부두에 있는 철공장들이 생각나서 더욱 반가왔구요. 거칠지만 단순한 모습들과 예술인의 작업이 잘 융화되어 많은 분들이 찾는 맛깔스러운 공간으로 발전했으면 하는 바람을 가졌습니다. 늦은 비로 더 다양한 모습을 담지 못했으나 많은 분들의 참여로 활기찬 하루였습니다. 주최하신 촬리 선생님께 감사드립니다. 너무 수고 많으셨습니다. 

Sketches at the Exhibit "Gaya Spirit - Iron and Tune"

Pasa Stone Pagoda, the lumps of stones were said to have been the ones of balancing the ship which had carried Indian Princess, Hur Hwang Ok, the legendery queen of the King "Suro" of Gaya Kingdom(A.D. 42-562). The stones was guessed as from abroad not of Korean originated by the quality of reddish color and the smoothness.

Last week I went to the National Museum of Korea, Yongsan to see the exhibit, Gaya Spirit - Iron and Tune" two times in order to sketch more. All those exhibited assets were great. I was surprised so much looking at their elaborated skill handling earth, iron, glass, and crystal. Sound, media, warrior sculptures, and Gayageum installation seemed to convey the concept of the Gaya Confederacy, coexistence and prosperity. 

지난 주말 이틀간 국립중앙박물관에 가서 "가야 본성 - 칼과 현"을 관람하고 왔습니다. 첫날에는 대충 보고 두째날에도 다 보았다고는 할 수 없으리만치 유물이 많았어요. 그리지는 못했지만 수정목걸이는 참으로 아름답더군요. 28년만에 하는 가야전시라고 합니다. 내년 3월 1일까지 전시 예정이니 많이 관람하시면 좋겠어요.
