Seoul Forest is a large park in Seongdong-gu, Seoul. The park is an eco-friendly zone appreciated not only by the people of the city but also those visiting Seoul. Seoul Forest Park (서울숲) is rapidly developing into the premium city-park of Korea like Hyde Park in London and Central Park in New York. Seoul Forest Park  was opened in June 2005. The park has a long and diverse history over the years. A water purification plant was established here in 1908 to provide water for the royal family and citizens. Another area of the park was turned into an industrial area in the 1950’s. Seoul Horse Race Track, a golf course and a sports park were built here. In the early 2000’s the area was developed into a park. It consist of five parks : a Cultural Art Park, an Ecological Forest, a Nature Experience Study Field, Wetlands Ecological Field, and Han River Waterside Park. There are many people enjoying their weekend with friends and children all over the forest park.
Last Saturday, the weather was very fine, we Seoul sketchers met at the park and enjoyed sketching  in a very friendly atmosphere. I was excited by the colorful sceneries and sketched rapidly here and there in the pleasant park.

2015년 5월 24일,어린이대공원
광진구 능동에 위치한 어린이대공원은 가까워서 자주 산책을 가는곳입니다. 일요일이고 날도 좋아 많은 사람들이 있었는데요. 그중에서도 일명 텐트족들이 여기저기 자리를 잡고 가족들과 연인들과 휴식을 즐기는 모습이었습니다.
저도 한자리 차지하고 스케치를 즐겼습니다.

2015년 5월 25일, 아차산
아차산 둘레길을 가기위해 친구를 기다리면서 스케치했습니다. 날이 너무 뜨거워서 빨리 그리려고 연필로 쓱쓱 그렸는데 그새를 못참고 경찰차 세대중 두대가 떠나버렸습니다.
너무더워서 패스트푸드점에서 기다리며 창밖을 보다가 전철역앞 모자와 장갑이 놓인 노점상을 스케치했습니다.
둘레길을 걸으며 쉬어가는중에 또 한장 그려봤습니다.
오늘 날씨가 상당히 더웠음에도 틈틈히 스케치 하려 시도한걸로 만족한 하루였네요.

태양이 뜨겁던 5월의 서울숲. 첫만남의 기분좋은 설레임으로 아름다운 거울연못을 스케치하기 시작했습니다. 중간에 예비 부부의 웨딩촬영으로 잠시 자리를 옮겨 기다려줘야했지만 두사람의 앞날을 축복?하며 끝까지 완성했습니다.^^ 무겁게 짖누르고있는 도시의 큰 빌딩아래로 아이들의 해맑은 웃음소리와 레져를 즐기는 모습을 보니 즐거웠습니다. 이런공간이 있어서 다행이다 싶구요. 아이들은 즐기는데 옆에서 경쟁을 부추기며 훈수를 두는 엄마들은 좀 안타까웠습니다.
스케치하고있는 안나씨를 그리시는 선생님의 모습이 너무 행복해 보이셔서 저도 펜을 들었습니다.
집으로 돌아가려고 전철을 기다리다가 문득 낯설게 보이는 공중전화부스들이 있어 또 한참을 죽치고 앉아 스케치 했네요. 손에 스마트폰이 아닌 펜과 종이가 들려있었기에 가능했던 낯선 하루가 감사했습니다.

서울숲 스케치 늦었지만 몇 장 올립니다.
오랜만에 어반스케쳐 멤버들과 함께 만나서 반갑고 좋았습니다. 같은 취미를 즐기고 공유할 친구가 있다는 건 참 소중한 일입니다. ^^

The Seoul Forest Park was really good for citizens to walk, rest, practice, and meeting by various kinds of facilities such as playgrounds, fountains, tracks for boarders, botanic garden and small zoo even. Tall trees made broad shadow all over the park. People seem to enjoy their weekend with friends, lovers, and family. Sunny weather added the pleasure to walk here and there looking small tents in which owners took rest as if they were in mountains. We enjoyed sketching on a very fine day having lunch delivered from Chinese restaurant near the park together on a low wooden bench.

오늘 화창한 날씨에 서울숲은 많은 시민들로 북적였습니다. 숲에서의 여러가지 체험교실에 참여하는 학생들, 운동하러 나온 시민들, 시원한 그늘에서 모임을 갖는 분들도 많았구요.

당연히 스케치 할 것은 너무 많았고 여기 저기 스케치 하면서 숲에서 걷는 즐거움도 함께 누렸어요. 왕십리 역에서 한정거장의 위치에 있는 서울숲은 자주 가도 좋을만한 아름다운 공간이었습니다. 참여하신 분들께 감사드립니다.

그날 그린 스케치 두 점을 늦게라도 올립니다.

Today I went to the Korea National Sport University located near Olympic Park because I heard that the daughter JY of MK Kim would participate in the fencing game. It was my first experience to see the fencing game in gymnasium. Besides encouraging her I hoped to sketch their moving gestures on the spot. The fencing game was held by Seoul fencing association for the fencing groups ranging from elementary school students to adults. The inside of the gym was crowded with players, coaches of the institutes and their family with lots of shouting, yelling, cheering through all the games. 

Speedy gestures were not easy to catch up, but their nice figures were attractive. Kids who lost were ready to cry and their family were busy to console them feeling sorry. It's general that losers are far more than the winner as games proceed on. Thanks to the JY's participation in that special game I could have a nice chance to feel the exciting mood as if I were a player and to capture their nice poses. Though JY couldn't win the cup I wish her championship next time. Cheers, JY!

오늘 김 미경샘의 따님이 '서울특별시 펜싱 협회장 배 동호인 선수권대회에 참여한다는 소식을 듣고 올림픽 공원 옆에 있는 한국체육대학교에 가서 경기를 관람하면서 스케치도 했습니다. 펜싱경기를 직접 본 것은 처음이었어요. 경기장 안은 응원 나온 학부모와 코치 선생님들의 응원소리에 여러 곳에서 경기가 진행되는 통에 많이 복잡했어요. 경기 끝나면 승패에 따라 우는 아이들에 이겼다고 좋아하는 아이와 부모님들의 모습도 당연히 보게 되구요. 경기장 한켠의 벽에 기대 앉아서 우선 동작을 많이 그려보다가 큰 종이에 수채를 써서 몇장 그렸습니다. 넓은 경기장에서 스케치하는 것과 달리 실내 공간에서 다양한 선수들을 그려보는 귀한 경험을 하고 왔어요. 아직 어린 선수들이 승패와 관계없이 멋진 운동을 하게 된 것에 감사하고 계속 정진하기를 바랐습니다. 김미경 샘 여러 모로 감사했습니다!
