It was a real fine day after raining. Eight participants joined us including four new comers. We started at the Anglican Church of Korea where a wedding ceremony would be performed. Families of bride and bridegroom were greeting their congratulators at the entrance of the church. After sketching till 12:30 we moved to restaurant for lunch. After lunch we went to the observatory in Seoul City Hall Seosomun building to see the beautiful view from 13th floor. Because it's weekend lots of visitors took seats and frequented. So it was not easy for 8 sketchers to take space for long. Though we felt sorry we left promising to come again for sketching and walked to Baejae Hagdang nearby. There in fantastic foreground surrounded by old and new buildings we finished sketching. Thank you all!

전날밤에 비가 와서 좀 걱정을 했으나 어제의 날씨는 너무 좋았어요. 첫번째 그케치 장소인 성공회 마당은 결혼식이 있어서 화려한 한복입으신 혼주님들과 많은 손님들로 붐볐습니다. 이어 근처에서 맛있는 국밥 식사를 하고 시청 서소문분관 전망대를 관람한후 배재학당으로 옮겨 너른 장소에서 스케치를 마쳤습니다. 처음 나오신 오창환님, 모나 권님, 유혜경님, 손정화님 반가왔습니다. 앞으로 많은 활동 바랍니다. 감사합니다.

Urban Sketchers Symposium Singapore 2015 에서 그린 그림 입니다.

안녕하세요~ 이번 싱가폴 어반스케쳐스 심포지엄 참여해서 그린 그림들 공유 합니다~
어줍짢은 그림들이라서 공유하긴 항상 쑥쓰럽지만,
심포지엄 다녀와서는 왠지 뭔가를 많이 배운 것 같아서 그림 그리기는 더 재미있어졌어요ㅎㅎ

전 사실 캘리그라피 연습이나 좀 해볼까 하고 사둔 붓펜이 있었거든요. 

그런데 이번 심포지엄에 참여해 보니 붓펜으로 그림 그리는 스케쳐스가 되게 많더라구요~

슥슥 그림 잘그리시는 분들도 많구요~

아래 그림들이 펜텔 붓펜으로 그린 거에요..

이것저것 많이 배우느라 정작 색칠할 시간은 별로 없어요~ㅎㅎ
그러고 보니 컬러가 들어간 그림도 몇장 없더라구요...

수료증 입니다~ ㅎㅎ

Opera house

멋진 오페라 하우스를 어반 스케쳐스에 소개하고 싶어서 몇차례 그려봤지만 마음에 들지 않아서 포기해버렸습니다.  모든것을 다 담으려는 욕심이 과했던것 같았습니다. 건물의 형태 처마의 디테일 그리고 건축재료 주변환경 모두 그리려고 했습니다.

이번에는 오페라 하우스를 부분적으로 그렸습니다. 해질무렵이여서 그림자 진 모습이 오페라 하우스의 입체감을 더 해줬습니다. 오페라 하우스를 멀리 떨어져서 보니 지붕위에 꼭지가 보여서 우리나라 전통의 갓 모양이 드러냈습니다.

September sketching outings!

안녕하세요!

그동안 아래 주소로 여러분께서 스케치 모임을 문의하셔서 이번 달에 두번의 스케치 모임을 가지려고 합니다.

1. 2015년 9월 12일, 토요일에 서울 시청 건너편에 있는 성공회 마당에서 10시 30분에 만나 주변을 그리도록 하겠습니다.

2. 2015년 9월 26일, 토요일에 서울 청계천 올덴버그 조각앞에서 10시 30분에 만나 청계천 주변을 그리려고 합니다.

관심있는 분들의 참석 바랍니다. 준비물은 각자 쓰실 도구를 가져오시고 따로 참가 신청은 없습니다.

(We'll have two times' outings this month. The first one will be on Sept. 12 at the Anglican Church of Korea where you can access from the City Hall station. And the second one will be at Cheonggyecheon on Sept. 26, 2015. We meet on 10:30 am at the foreground of the church and in front of the Oldenberg sculpture in Cheonggyecheon each. Hope you who have interest in sketching and want to begin on-the-spot drawing to join with courage. Hope to see you there! )

Flavor and style of coffee

I don't know well about the flavor of coffee yet, but I enjoy styling with coffee.
When I meet friends, we order coffee and naturally we can chat and feel sympathy even though.
Sometimes our opinions differ.
As everyone looks different, the thought are different too.
And I think that is how people get to know each other.
It was impressive that this cafe had simple sian and clear message.

커피의 맛과 멋

아직도 커피의 맛을 모르지만 커피를 즐기는 멋은 만끽하고 있습니다.
모임에서 친구를 막 마주치면 서먹하다가도 커피를 시키면 자연스럽게 이야기가 나오고 마음을 공감하게 됩니다. 간혹 의견이 어긋나기도 하지만.
각자의 모습이 다르듯이 생각도 다른것은 당연한 것입니다.
그러면서 상대를 알아가는 과정이라고 생각합니다.
이 커피숍의 사인은 깔끔하고 메세지가 명확히 전달되어서 인상적이 였습니다.

A few days ago, in a hot summer weather, I visited a beautiful exotic village and had a lovely sketch time in the outskirts. Petite France (쁘띠 프랑스) in Gapyeong County (Gyeonggi-do, Korea) is a famous French culture Village  and it is only an hour drive from Seoul.

Petite France consists of 16 French style buildings where the visitors can experience 

French food, clothing, and household culture. Entering the gate of the village, I came across a few European style architecture, colorful buildings on the low hill. Inside, there are paintings, dolls, live band performance, souvenirs shop, convenience store and what most valuable is the view of Han river with colorful panoramic landscape of countryside. 

I sketched some exotic buildings and antique exhibits feeling like a child for a while. It was a fantastic sketch time.

Last Monday, Aug. 17 I went to Petite France, an imitated village of France. I heard many times about its pretty features. The first purpose was to sketch them and the second one was to confirm whether it might be able to be a sketching place for Seoul sketchers to go together. YH Lee accompanied me to sketch and to discuss together. It took over two hours by car even on Monday. And it seemed not easy by bus or train for a group to move and sketch enough. The scenery was good but the scale was smaller than the English Village in Paju city in my point of view. So I recommend you to visit personally for sketching because it's worth to capture exotic scenery with Hangang(river) downward. We didn't visit every building for the short of time. So we hope to go again for larger paintings in Autumn season. We may see different scenes by colored leaves in low mountains behind the village. 

지난 월요일에 가평군 청평면에 있는 쁘티 프랑스에 이용환샘과 다녀왔어요. 말로만 듣던바라 직접 보고 그림도 그리고 서울 스케쳐들과 함께 갈 수 있을지 확인도 해보고 싶었어요. 산비탈에 위치해서 파주의 영어마을처럼 넓지는 않았지만 나름 아기자기한 전시물도 있고 멀리 내려다 보이는 북한강 물도 보이는 것이 이색적이었습니다. 월요일이었는데도 방문객이 많더군요. 시간이 없어서 전시관들을 다 방문하지는 못했는데 가을에 다시 가 볼생각으로 아쉬움을 달래고 돌아왔습니다.
