It was a real humid day on summer rainy season. We finished our small exhibition located underneath the Gwangjin bridge of Hangang(Han River). Whenever I visited the gallery I had to come out of the exit no. 2, Gwangnaru station. Near the junction I could see a kiosk where a couple kept boiling corns selling other snacks. I like boiled corns so much and couldn't pass it. When I came home I bought some there. He seemed to boil them properly in a good taste. And I felt that I had to draw the kiosk before the ending day of exhibit. Today I carried out my duty to sketch it. And on my way coming home I bought some. It was very cloudy and rainy from time to time on bridge. I tried to draw two more inside the gallery using watercolor and conte pencil. Thank you again for visiting!

one sketch at the Riverview 8th Avenue

scene in gallery, pencil, watercolor, 40.6 x 30.5 cm

The space of the gallery is a half of a sort of oval type surrounded by panes of glass. The panels to hang pictures are movable. The features they make may be different every time by each artist's taste. Though the space may be small to some artists who want to show big canvases it seems to be very characteristic by transparent glass walls through which visitors enjoy the riverside scenery and above all its floor which shows ever flowing river. Some visitors cheered seeing big carps in river. Today I tried to capture the inside scenery seated on the floor of the gallery. Those rectangular shapes seen from top to bottom caught my eye.

Kim Mikyung was talking with me waiting for her friends' visits.

On third day of exhibition we met at the gallery greeting visitors and sketching too. The more we draw the more we feel the attractive scenery and structure of the place. Today the wind seemed to be lesser than the previous days. Many citizens including young couples, bicyclers, tourists, and families visited the place. Among them there was a couple who showed much interest in YH Lee's drawing. Introducing urban sketching he drew her and presented it to her. She liked it a lot. Though the weather was not clear but the atmosphere on river was nice to sketch with supporting steel beams.

We thank all the visitors for visiting and leaving your encouraging comments too.

two more sketches at the Riverview 8th Avenue

scenery of north end of the Gwangjin bridge, Han river seen from Riverview 8th Avenue, pencil, watercolor, A 4

scenery of south end of the bridge, charcoal, A 4

Today I went to the bridge to sketch more around the bridge including Hangang citizen's park at southern riverside. But the severe wind by typhoon I just stayed drawing scenes from the round deck of the gallery.

MK Kim prepared all these photos introducing the purpose and activity of our blog.

See the water flowing under the gallery!

Lee Yong Hwan is painting the scenery seen from the observatory space on the Arche paper(54 x 71 cm) in spite of terrible wind blowing of typhoon.

Today we(MK Kim, YH Lee, & BH Yoo) opened a small scale exhibition at the Riverview 8th Avenue in Gwangjin bridge of Han River. The gallery locates underneath of the bridge at 8th pier. As seen in the above photos you can see the water flowing under the glass floor of the gallery. One may feel fear when walking up and down the stairs to enter the gallery. I couldn't walk over the glass. But the beautiful scenery around the place presents a very special experience to visitors, especially at night. Small scale concert or proposal event for lovers are prepared for citizens in event hall.

I sketched two pieces though the wind blew terribly by typhoon. I thank MK Kim so much for her careful efforts for the perfect exhibit. The bridge is loved by citizens for walking or riding bicycles. People can take rest sitting on the benches prepared along the bridge rails or on steps of observatory space. Of course sketchers can have lots of subjects to capture.

We hope lots of citizens and sketchers visiting the gallery to enjoy our works and share the familiarity in sketches of the places we live together.
