Sketchcrawl 2 with Steve from Sydney

지난 29일에 만나서 스케치했던 스티브씨와 오는 1월 9일 토요일 오전 11시에 덕수궁 앞에서 다시 만나 스케치하기로 했습니다. 진지하고도 열정적인 그의 작업태도에 감명을 받았으며 다시 한번 스케치를 함께 할 수 있어 감사한 마음입니다. 그날의 스케줄은 확정되지 않았으나 남대문 시장의 알파문구 안내도 해볼까하며 시장에서 스케치좀 하다가 명동을 거쳐 종로쪽으로 나가보려고 예정하고 있습니다. 날씨가 좀 따뜻하기만 바랄 따름입니다. 그날 뵈어요.

(We'll have another sketchcrawl with Steve from Sydney on Jan. 9, 2010. We meet on 11 am at the same spot, in front of Ducksoo Palace. We have no plan yet about the course of sketching. But We try to guide him Alpha Art Material Supply shop, Namdaemun market, Myungdong, and Chongro streets. Hope the weather be better than now and see you there!)

It was awfully cold but all of us had a pleasant day.

Part of Turtle ship of Baek Nam-jun, Video artist, in an exhibition at Gwanghwamun Square, Seoul. You can see more at this blog.

As soon as I touched the brush on paper the water became frozen leaving interesting pattern.

At the Jeongdong Church I tried the geometric shapes made by different roofs of attached buildings of church.

At Baejae building, I caught the reflected image on a glass wall of Baejae building.

Steve, Susie and Lee Yong-hwan posed in front of King Sejong Statue at Gwanghwamun Square.

Though the weather was so terribly cold, we enjoyed the meeting and sketching. Steve wanted to have another sketching with Seoul sketchers before his leaving. Hope to see you then.

정동에서

오늘은 호주에서 오신 스티브님 부부와 유병화님, 이용환님, 저 이렇게 다섯 명이 모였네요.

덕수궁 앞에서 만나 정동극장, 배재학당에서 스케치를 했습니다. 물감을 종이에 적시자마자 얼음조각이 되더군요. 저는 2시쯤 작은 아이때문에 일찍 돌아왔습니다. 그 후에도 좋은 시간 보내셨는지 궁금하네요. 스케치를 통해 새로운 사람들을 만나는 즐거움이 있네요. 다정한 부부의 모습은 참 보기가 좋았습니다.

오늘 스케치크롤은 싱가포르에서 오신 Tia 님과 그의 아들이 함께 해서 더욱 특별했습니다.

오늘은 동짓날이라 팥죽 공양이 있었습니다. 먹고 나오니 엄청나게 많은 사람들이 줄을 서 있었습니다.

아쿠아리움에서. 식인물고기라는 피라냐의 표정을 그려보았습니다.

Korean traditional musical instruments

Daegum, a large fife

I sketched them at a year-end party held at Korean architects' Association building. Several performers such as string quartet, singers, saxopone players played for the participants. I liked the sound of Daegum. The young player wore Korean traditional clothes in white. It was impressive.
